Inclusion at Family Musical Mornings

Inclusion at Family Musical Mornings

While Family Musical Mornings are designed with children ages 5+ in mind, we welcome guests of all ages to join us! Many people benefit from the different format offered on these special mornings. Here are some of the things we do to welcome audiences with many different needs:

Family Musical Mornings concerts are only 45 minutes long, less than half the length of a typical classical music concert.

No need to worry you’ll miss the whole concert if you arrive a little late—audience members are free to enter the seating area at whatever time you arrive for your concert.

For those who have trouble sitting in one place for an extended period of time or might need a mid-concert bathroom break, we welcome you to leave and return to your seat whenever you need, without having to wait for a break in the music.

Family Musical Mornings provide a more relaxed environment, a great place for those who might need to move around or make some noise during a concert. No need to worry about wearing just the right outfit, either—you’re welcome to dress in fancy, casual, or even themed clothes!

For those who prefer not to drive at night or have any other restrictions on enjoying our evening Classics concerts, Family Musical Mornings provide an option to enjoy an orchestral performance at 10:00 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. instead.

We provide foam seat cushions at each Family Musical Morning for most seating areas, providing a little more cushion for those who need it and allowing our smallest audience members a better view of the stage.

We offer sensory-friendly bags at our Welcome Table with disposable earplugs, a stress ball, and a fidget toy for those who need these items to better enjoy their experience.

Portable changing tables are available in the first-floor restrooms opposite the elevator.

For those who may need to take a quiet break from the lobby activities, we designate a quiet zone on the Dress Circle (3rd floor) level lobby.
