POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Education & Community Engagement will be responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating all education and community engagement programs. Supervising a professional staff and committed volunteers, they will oversee the delivery of programs, ensuring there is alignment between artistic priorities and educational initiatives. Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Education & Community Engagement will play a pivotal role in representing the Symphony to other arts, education, and civic institutions, cultivating deep community partnerships and advocating for the importance of arts education. As a member of the senior leadership team, they will collaborate with Vice Presidents of other departments, and serve as the liaison to the board of directors’ Education & Community Engagement Committee. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Special Events is an important member of Pacific Symphony’s Development Department team. This position is responsible for the creation of strategies and implementation of tactics necessary to successfully oversee 3-5 major fundraising special events, including the Symphony’s Annual Gala, Season Opening Night and Lunar New Year celebrations. This includes cultivation, management, and stewardship of major/principal gift donors and volunteers who chair these events and sit on the event committees. A key responsibility of the position is to assist in establishing event fundraising goals and estimates, and meeting those goals.
The position also supervises the Special Events Coordinator, and in conjunction with this function, oversees other smaller-scale events during the year. This includes activities such as pre- and post-concert dinners and receptions for various constituencies, Symphony support society groups, luncheons and dinners, events in donors’ homes, VIP events at summer venues, and other events as assigned by development department leadership.

Pacific Symphony is looking for an AmeriCorps Fellow to work with our Volunteer Services Department. The AmeriCorps Fellow that we select should have a passion for the arts, music, and love volunteering. This individual should be a college graduate who is looking for a great experience in the nonprofit sector, especially in an arts organization.
AmeriCorps Fellows work in nonprofit, education and community organizations that serve children, youth, and families to build capacity and develop their volunteer programs through the Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP). They do this through 1) building sustainable systems to track, support, manage, and train volunteers; 2) recruiting one-time and skills-based volunteers; and 3) raising funds to support the development of the volunteer program. Partner sites change annually based on community and agency needs. This position is a valuable opportunity to develop and apply leadership skills and to make a lasting difference. Extensive training in volunteer management, arts administration, and nonprofit professional skills is offered.
