Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, led by Assistant Conductor Dr. Jacob Sustaita, opens their 2022-23 season with the overture to Verdi's late opera, The Force of Destiny. Of particular note is the repetition of three notes that begin the overture, termed the “fate” motif. The concert continues with another piece from the world of Italian opera, the lush and beautiful Intermezzo to Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana. After intermission, the talented young musicians perform Mahler's Symphony No. 1, the mighty "Titan."VERDI: Overture to La Forza del Destino
