Pacific Symphony Receives $2 Million in Funding to Expand Education and Community Engagement Programs
“Not only does music heal, uplift, and inspire; it brings
communities closer together and unites us.” –Senator Dave Min
Pacific Symphony extends its heartfelt gratitude to Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) for his outstanding efforts in securing nearly $2 million in funding from the 2023-24 California State Budget for the orchestra’s education and community engagement programs. The State Budget, signed by Governor Gavin Newsom late Tuesday, June 27, includes disbursements for ten local projects in the 37th Senate District requested by Senator Min, including investments in water management, and public safety technology in addition to the funding for Pacific Symphony.
“They say that budgets are a reflection of our values, and the State of California’s $2 million investment in Pacific Symphony is a true reflection of the vital and central role that the arts play in Orange County. Not only does music heal, uplift, and inspire; it brings communities closer together and unites us,” said Senator Min. “I am incredibly proud that the Legislature and the Governor agree on this issue and funded the Pacific Symphony’s ongoing educational programs and community events that enrich local artists, students, veterans, and Orange County families of all ages.”
“This significant funding secured by Senator Dave Min is a testament to his dedication to our community’s well-being and the transformative power of music,” expressed John Forsyte, Pacific Symphony’s President and CEO. “We extend our deepest appreciation for his unwavering support and recognition of the invaluable impact that the arts and music education have on our society.”
- Symphony on the Go! brings the magic of live music directly to locations across Orange County. Pacific Symphony musicians perform free outdoor chamber music concerts throughout the summer. Symphony on the Go is a mobile community concert experience available for people of all ages.
- Symphony in the Cities, a beloved summertime tradition, will be further elevated with the additional funding. These free, outdoor orchestral concerts in local parks and community spaces foster a sense of unity and provide unforgettable musical experiences for families and friends of all ages.
- Heartstrings, a program that focuses on individuals facing physical, emotional, or cognitive challenges, will benefit from the grant as well. Through the therapeutic benefits of music, this initiative enhances well-being and enriches the lives of participants.
- Music and Wellness is a program dedicated to promoting the healing power of music within healthcare settings. Pacific Symphony will build on partnerships with hospitals, senior centers, and healthcare organizations to extend the reach of this program and positively impact the lives of patients, families, and caregivers.
- Elementary School Education programs will continue to provide immersive educational experiences, introducing young students to the wonders of music and nurturing their creativity through interactive workshops and performances.
- Lastly, the Veterans Initiative will receive additional support to honor and serve the men and women who have valiantly served our country. By offering opportunities for engagement, expression, and healing through music, Pacific Symphony aims to make a positive difference in the lives of veterans.
Pacific Symphony is immensely grateful to Senator Dave Min for his tireless advocacy and dedication to improving our community. With this significant funding, Pacific Symphony will expand its reach, deepen its impact, and continue to inspire, educate, and enrich the lives of individuals throughout the region.
