Grieg Piano Concerto | June 1-3
This is one of the most beloved, most passionate Piano Concertos in the entire repertoire. The brilliant Louis Lortie, noted by The New York Times for his “splendid technique and thoughtful soul,” plays Grieg’s immortal concerto. Teddy Abrams, at the forefront of America’s new generation of conductors leads Stravinsky’s colorful Petrushka, and an overture of his own.

Cathedrals Of Sound | June 15-17
A program spanning five centuries and celebrating the spirit. The mystical Miserere by the Renaissance composer Gregorio Allegri was so popular the Vatican forbade it to be published (though a teenage Mozart secretly transcribed it, having heard it just twice). Pacific Chorale director Robert Istad conducts the Miserere, then Carl St.Clair leads Richard Strauss’ transcendent tone poem followed by the world premiere of Fiat Lux by Scotland’s Sir James MacMillan, whose moving music draws on his faith and heritage

POPS CONCERTS:
Renée Elise Goldsberry | June 9-10
Renée Elise Goldsberry originated Angelica Schuyler in the original Broadway Cast of Hamilton. Broadway also cheered her on in Rent and The Color Purple, and gave her a Tony and a GRAMMY®. She graced The Good Wife and One Life to Live on television. Hear her golden voice fill Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in a collection of showstoppers as only she can sing them. Our new Principal Pops Conductor, Enrico Lopez Yañez, will be leading this concert.

FAMILY CONCERTS:
Hansel & Gretel – Opera For Kids! | June 3
This fairy tale adventure tells the story of two hungry children lost in an enchanted forest, an inviting gingerbread house and a wicked witch. This kid-friendly production features spoken narration and acting, as well as the most charming and catchy tunes from the original opera, sung by talented opera singers.

Organ Virtuoso Christopher Houlihan | June 4
Organist Christopher Houlihan has established an international reputation as an “intelligently virtuoso musician” (Gramophone), hailed for his “glowing, miraculously life-affirming performances” (Los Angeles Times). In 2015, he was selected for The Diapason’s “20 Under 30,” a distinguished list of leaders in the organ world.
