PACIFIC SYMPHONY’S GALA BENEFIT “A NIGHT IN CHICAGO”

Pacific Symphony’s 2023 Gala takes place at the luxurious, award-winning Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club.

One of the premier philanthropic events in the Southland, Pacific Symphony’s Gala Benefit honors John Forsyte and marks his 25th anniversary as the orchestra’s President and CEO. Gala attendees will celebrate by spending “A Night in Chicago” on Sat., April 29th at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club, a Five Diamond- rated and award-winning resort perched high atop a seaside bluff on 175 acres in Dana Point.

The Gala Chairs Carol Choi, Sandy Segerstrom Daniels, Eleanor Gordon, Diana Martin, and Jane Fujishige Yada along with the Gala Committee are planning an entertaining soirée celebrating the rich history and culture of Forsyte’s hometown, the Windy City. Décor and entertainment will transport gala-goers through eras of Chicago innovation from the 1893 Colombian Exposition, the Jazz Age, the tumultuous 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and through today. Musical performers include members of Pacific symphony; the Jake Brown Jazz Band; and Brass Transit, a cover band paying tribute to the decades-long, multi-platinum songbook of supergroup CHICAGO. Guests are encouraged to dress in elegant styles of their era of choice, adding to the evening’s festive atmosphere.

The evening begins with a cocktail reception at 5 p.m. followed by a multi-course gourmet dinner. After dinner, the enticing live auction begins. A yearly favorite, the Gala auction is brimming with extravagant items, extraordinary travel packages, and one-of- a-kind experiences. All proceeds benefit the Symphony’s education and community engagement programs.

“We are thrilled to celebrate John Forsyte’s remarkable leadership and the rich cultural legacy of Chicago at this year’s Gala Benefit,” said Pacific Symphony Board Chair Arthur Ong. “This promises to be a night to remember, and we invite everyone to join us in supporting Pacific Symphony’s vital work in our community.”

Innovation, resilience, and passionate fundraising are at the core of Pacific Symphony’s success through 25 years of John Forsyte’s leadership. During his tenure, Pacific Symphony grew from a local community orchestra to a Top Tier designation by the League of American Orchestras, with a budget that has grown more than 150%; 10% of which is dedicated towards artistic programming, among the highest of any American symphony orchestra. Pacific Symphony has transcended ethnic, racial, and financial barriers while connecting community members of all ages through music, education, and enrichment programs, and continues its pursuit of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices through its long-range strategic plan.
