Dreams Begin at Pacific Symphony
Imagine a 3-year-old boy enjoying his first experience of live classical music at Pacific Symphony’s Family Musical Mornings. His grandmother notices he’s riveted on the music and suggests he study piano. Flash-forward from 1993 to 2023, and that boy is now a professional conductor in the running for a Grammy in the category “Best Orchestral Performance.” And the orchestra he’s conducting, the New York Youth Symphony, is up against the likes of Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil and John Williams with the Berlin Philharmonic. And he wins!
Beyoncé may have made Grammy history for the most career wins by any artist (32!), but Michael Repper made history conducting the first youth orchestra ever to win a Grammy. Don’t ever doubt the power of music to changes lives!
If you have a child, grandchild, or nephew, you may want to take them on Saturday, Feb. 25 to the next Family Musical Morning concert presented by Farmers & Merchants Bank.
