Happy 34th Anniversary, The Phantom of the Opera!

On Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, The Phantom of the Opera celebrated 34 years on Broadway. Since it opened at the Majestic Theatre in 1988, it has had more than 13,000 performances and continues to make an impact.

The iconic Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber favorite will be a part of Pacific Symphony’s 2021-22 season in two very special ways.

First up is Valentine’s Day with Katherine Jenkins. A concert experience two years in the making, Welsh pop opera superstar Katherine Jenkins OBE will make her Pacific Symphony debut, Feb. 11-12. One of the songs she’ll be performing is “Music of the Night,” originally sung by Webber’s Phantom and a highlight of the first act. Pacific Symphony will be led by guest conductor Albert-George Schram.

You can listen to her cover of the song here:

Next, is the finale of our 2021-22 Pops Series. If you’re a Broadway fan in general, don’t forget to join us for our Blockbuster Broadway concerts June 3 – 4. Our featured performers for the show will be Jessica Hendy, Kelli Rabke, Chelle Denton, Joshua Israel, Scott Coulter and John Boswell (who will also be on piano). Pacific Symphony will be by principal pops conductor Richard Kaufman.
