Katelyn Cruz

Curreently pursuing her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at California State University, Fullerton with an anticipated graduation in '25, Katelyn Cruz is deeply engaged in both choral music education and vocal performance. She contributes her alto vocals to the esteemed University Singers, led by Grammy Award-winning conductor Dr. Robert Istad. During her tenure at CSUF, Cruz has showcased her versatility by portraying various roles such as Mrs. Jones in Weill’s Street Scene and Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea. Additionally, she has been featured as a soprano soloist in major masterpieces including Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Bach’s Christ lag in Todesbanden.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Cruz shares her passion for vocal music by teaching private voice lessons at her alma mater, Warren High School, nurturing aspiring musicians for their journey into the musical realm. Her dedication and talent have been recognized through scholarships such as the Anna Kuimlidda and Jane Smith scholarships for vocal performance, as well as the prestigious David Thorsen Endowed Scholarship for her work in choral conducting. She is currently working at CSUF as one of the Opera Assistants and serves as the soprano choral intern at Fullerton First United Methodist Church. Outside of her musical endeavors, Cruz cherishes moments with her family and her faithful doggy companion, Loki.
